Position Overview:
This role is essential in delivering technical direction and systems engineering support to the Technical Management Branch, focusing on the Spacecraft/Payload Integration and Evolution (SPIE) Element Office.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate and engage with SPIE project team members, various engineering organizations, and stakeholders across multiple NASA Centers and Agencies.
2. Provide leadership in developing critical systems engineering deliverables for Programs and Projects, ensuring alignment with program milestones and ongoing activities.
3. Formulate programmatic processes, plans, and necessary documentation for managing technical and milestone evaluations.
4. Lead and facilitate SPIE Element milestone assessments, ensuring thorough preparation and execution of reviews.
5. Act as a Change Package Engineer for SPIE documentation, overseeing the review of Program/Project documents.
6. Extend systems engineering support to SPIE Sub-elements, including the Payload Adapter, Universal Stage Adapter, and Orion Stage Adapter, along with the Exploration Upper Stage Element.

Technical Leadership:
Provide guidance to enhance systems and operational engineering efforts, supporting the design, development, testing, and integration of the SPIE element.

Collaboration:
Work closely with technical leads to strategize and execute multi-disciplinary analyses, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

Expertise and Analysis:
Deliver support, expertise, and independent assessments in systems engineering processes, addressing technical and management challenges that impact performance.

Team Engagement:
Participate in task teams, working groups, Technical Interchange Meetings, and training sessions to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Qualifications:
A degree in aerospace, mechanical, systems, or a related engineering discipline is required, preferably from an ABET accredited institution. Candidates typically possess a BS with a minimum of 15 years of experience or a Master's degree with at least 13 years of relevant experience.

Essential Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements development to flight readiness certification.
- Proficient in developing and documenting requirements and processes related to aerospace hardware design and operations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of engineering and project management, fostering consensus.
- Familiarity with launch simulations and day-of-launch procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical subjects clearly across various engineering disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the current SLS program and related SPIE hardware.
- Understanding of SPIE interfaces and sub-elements.
- Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures.
