Job Overview

The Trayline Associate plays a crucial role in the AYR Cold Starter position on the patient tray line, ensuring that cold items are accurately placed on patient trays according to their specific dietary needs. This role is essential in adhering to food safety standards while efficiently passing trays within the required timeframe. Flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is a necessary aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively, including patient tray line duties, tray passing, and supporting the dish room as needed.
  • Understand and implement food service standards, including HACCP protocols and temperature monitoring.
  • Prepare cold food items and ensure patient trays are delivered according to prescribed diets.
  • Assist in portioning patient orders onto trays using printed tickets that reflect specific dietary requirements.
  • Employ safe knife skills and utilize cutting gloves during food preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and proper food handling practices in all kitchen areas.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Take direction from Leads and perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit the physical capability to push tray carts throughout the hospital, which may involve lifting or pushing weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook, including attendance, uniform standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Engage in the Employee Development Process through self-evaluations, meetings, annual reviews, and mandatory training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
  • Preferred: High school diploma or GED.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum: Six (6) months of experience in a restaurant or food service environment.
  • Preferred: One (1) or more years of experience in hospitality, food service, or healthcare settings.
License/Certification Requirements
  • Minimum: None required.
