Job Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for general ledger reconciliation, budgeting and account analysis while providing accounting support to the fiscal services department and hospital leadership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GAAS and comply with county hospital law.
  • Generate monthly financial statements for hospital and physician practices and preparation of monthly journal entries and accruals for hospital and other Riverview owned facilities
  • Assist managers in the preparation of their departmental budget requests and assist CFO in reviewing and analyzing those reports.
  • Compile approved departmental budget and direct preparation of budget accountability reports to assist managers in cost control.
  • Develop and maintain amortization schedules for debt instruments, notes receivable and other miscellaneous contracts and agreements.
  • Update and maintain fixed assets and construction in progress schedules
  • Ensure all general ledger balance sheet account reconciliations related to fixed assets and construction in progress are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare financial statements for other related entities.
  • Responsible for all bank account reconciliations
  • Develop and maintain prepaid expense schedules
  • Account analysis. Act as liaison with Auditors. Prepare documentation for related entities for CMS, ISDH and other agencies.
  • Back up payroll and accounts payable. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial surveys
  • Prepare and analyze investment reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
  • Minimum: BS in Accounting, Finance, or other Business area with concentration in Accounting
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum: Three (3) years experience in General Ledger and Budgeting
  • Preferred: Three (3) or more years experience in Healthcare Accounting/Finance including GL, Budgeting and Analysis
