Key Responsibilities

The Direct Service Shelter Staff plays a vital role in addressing the immediate needs of our guests. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service
  • Welcoming all individuals in a courteous and professional manner
  • Communicating and enforcing residence rules
  • Addressing inquiries and concerns from clients, staff, and volunteers
  • Collaborating with the Facilities Coordinator as necessary
  • Adhering to all safety, security, and confidentiality protocols
  • Managing admissions processes and ensuring guest safety
  • Participating in departmental meetings
  • Exhibiting respectful conduct towards guests and colleagues
  • Coordinating scheduled dorm inspections with case management
  • Ensuring effective communication of guest information
  • Managing mail distribution
  • Documenting daily activities and observations
  • Maintaining cleanliness in dining and kitchen areas
  • Handling phone inquiries
  • Performing administrative tasks as required
  • Executing additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Experience in a human services environment, preferably with male clients experiencing homelessness
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Effective time management abilities
Training & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED is required
