QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Preferred experience of 3 to 6 months in a food service or culinary environment.
  3. Ability to understand and adhere to established protocols and a variety of verbal and written instructions with a high level of precision. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential.
  4. Exhibits reliability and strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with honesty, a friendly demeanor, and punctuality.
  5. Flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs and work varied hours as required.
  6. Professional demeanor, appropriate attire for the role, exceptional customer service skills, and a genuine desire to assist and serve senior residents.
  7. Ability to follow established procedures, manage multiple tasks, work independently, and perform various responsibilities without close supervision.
  8. Must obtain SERV SAFE certification within six months of employment.
  9. Must achieve CBRF certification within 90 days of employment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Execute a variety of food preparation, table setting, and serving tasks:

a. Wash, peel, cut, and chop fruits and vegetables for salads and garnishes.

b. Assist in food preparation as directed by the kitchen staff.

c. Offer residents a selection of food items at each meal.

d. Serve meals to residents promptly, adhering to best practices.

e. Set and clear tables following established procedures.

f. Provide additional beverages and food items according to residents' dietary needs.

g. Manage clean linens and properly handle soiled items.

h. Deliver food orders to resident rooms as needed.

2. Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, pantry, and dining areas, adhering to sanitation and infection control standards:

a. Soak, scrape, rinse, and load dishes into the dishwasher according to guidelines.

b. Safely unload the dishwasher and store dishes, glasses, and utensils appropriately.

c. Clean and sanitize equipment and surfaces, including dish machines, refrigerators, and countertops.

d. Record resident orders and ensure the dining area is swept and mopped.

e. Clean dining tables and chairs after each meal service.

f. Operate the garbage disposal safely, ensuring no utensils or foreign objects are introduced.

g. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure all food is labeled, dated, and stored correctly.

h. Dispose of recyclables and broken glass daily.

i. Replenish cleaning and sanitation supplies as needed.

j. Follow daily cleaning checklists and document restocking activities.

k. Assist in maintaining daily PH logs as required.

3. Ensure that all resident rights are respected at all times and report any concerns immediately, following organizational policy.

4. Maintain confidentiality regarding all departmental and organizational information.

5. Understand and adhere to established lines of communication and authority.

6. Work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff throughout the organization.

7. Participate in required training sessions, meetings, and seminars, adjusting schedules or working overtime as necessary to meet resident needs.

8. Comply with all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.

9. Dedicate time to building positive relationships with residents and colleagues.
