Job Summary

The Radiology Medical Assistant performs delegated aspects of patient care in radiology, working under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, report, and record patient data
  • Assist patients in the pre and post-op areas
  • Transport patients
  • Implement selected aspects of the patient care plan according to hospital policy and procedure
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for the patient and/or their family members
  • Maintain unit equipment and supplies as directed
  • Perform vital signs, phlebotomy (if certified)
  • Assist with patient communication, screening, scheduling, and coordinating patient follow-up
  • Assist with clerical duties: scanning, faxing, maintaining records
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or Medical Assistant Certification required or Certified Nurses Aide Program (CMA, CCMA, RMA, CNA)
  • At least one year of prior work experience in a direct patient hospital care setting preferred
Working Conditions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and standing
  • Must be able to lift and move patients, using equipment or with assistance
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
  • OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens
