Position Overview

Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) is seeking a dedicated Part-Time MRI Imaging Specialist to contribute to our esteemed medical facility.

Compensation Details:

  • MRA provides a competitive starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • The salary range for this role is between $33.00 and $59.00 per hour, along with competitive shift differentials (12%-50% of base rate).

Role Summary:

The MRI Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating MRI machinery and executing diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures on patients, adhering to established protocols to assist physicians in their diagnostic and treatment efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts diagnostic MRI scanning procedures by selecting appropriate techniques based on patient age and diagnosis.
  • Assists the radiologist during complex invasive MRI examinations while maintaining proper sterile techniques.
  • Initiates intravenous access, evaluates existing sites, and administers intravenous contrast in accordance with established protocols.
  • Adheres to MRI Safety Policies.
  • Ensures MRI equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
  • Demonstrates annual competencies to perform examinations and address patient needs effectively.
  • Reviews physician orders and patient requisitions for completeness.
  • Records relevant patient and examination information for future reference.
  • Prepares examinations for interpretation by the radiologist.
  • Possesses computer skills necessary to meet departmental requirements.
  • Conducts and documents quality assurance testing on equipment as per established protocols.
  • Collaborates effectively as a team member within the department and across other units.
  • Provides clinical supervision and guidance to students.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent, completion of an AMA-approved radiology program, registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT), CT state license, and CPR certification may be necessary.
  • Preferred Experience: A minimum of one year of experience as a radiological technologist, along with an Associate's or Applied Science Degree in a related field.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of radiological technology, particularly in relation to anatomy and medical/surgical conditions.
  • Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient in operating MRI equipment, scheduling and managing patient flow, effective communication with patients and medical personnel, maintaining confidentiality of patient records, and responding calmly and effectively in emergencies.

Special Conditions:

  • May require rotation on night, weekend, and/or holiday call schedules.
  • May involve covering ancillary offices as necessary.
  • OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Physical demands may include lifting and walking.
