Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructional program and providing assistance to students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the cooperating teacher in delivering the instructional program and implementing NM FOCUS criteria.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
  • Model language and behavior for students.
  • Collect, prepare, and arrange resource materials for certified personnel.
  • Maintain classroom records and prepare reports as requested.
  • Monitor student activities and provide support for non-instructional classroom duties.
  • Participate in teacher-parent conferences and meetings.
  • Reinforce IEP goals and train students in self-help skills.
  • Assist with custodial skills and escort students to other locations on campus and off campus.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education and an Educational Assistants License from PED.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others.
  • Previous experience in childcare preferred.
  • Completion of Intentional Teaching: Module I-Powered Interactions and Module II-Observational Assessment within two months of hire.
  • ECERS-3 online training within six months of hire.
  • The Full Participation of Each Child, New Mexico Pyramid Framework, and other requirements as specified.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility, organization, problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial, and legal requirements.
