Therapeutic Childcare Assistant Educator

Compensation: $17.50 to $18.25 Hourly
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Therapeutic Childcare Assistant Educator operates under the guidance of the Childcare Supervisor. This role involves supporting the lead educator in delivering instructional assistance to children and executing developmentally suitable programs within childcare settings. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring a safe environment for all children, irrespective of their behavior.
- Maintaining a tidy, welcoming, and well-structured classroom atmosphere.
- Setting boundaries for children and caregivers in a calm and supportive manner.
- Applying consistent positive behavior management techniques.
- Overseeing a group of up to 10 children with regular supervision.
- Conducting developmental assessments.
- Engaging children in age-appropriate educational and recreational activities tailored to their interests.
- Exhibiting flexibility, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Upholding confidentiality standards.
- Keeping accurate records and completing documentation promptly.
- Staying informed about relevant Washington State Administrative Codes (WACs), Revised Codes of Washington (RCWs), and federal regulations related to chemical dependency treatment and early childhood education.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Preferred: Associate degree in early childhood education.
- Must possess a MERIT account and have completed initial STARS training.
- Required: Minimum of an ECE initial certificate or equivalent, verified in the electronic workforce registry.
- Willingness to assume lead educator responsibilities for short periods as needed.
- Experience working with children aged birth to 5 years.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Food Handler's Permit.
- Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.
- Strong attendance record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The role involves providing services to patients in an inpatient treatment program. Effective communication, sound judgment, and creativity are essential to meet the diverse needs of the patients.
PERSONAL INTERACTIONS: The position requires regular contact with treatment team members, patients, children of patients, and their families, adhering to confidentiality laws.
GUIDELINES: The incumbent will rely on specialized training and experience, performing duties in compliance with Washington Administrative Codes, federal regulations on client confidentiality, and Lifeline Connections policies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role necessitates sitting, speaking clearly, hearing, and using hands for writing and typing. Regular standing, walking, reaching, and occasional heavy lifting may be required.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Childcare Supervisor.
