Healthcare Application Analyst

Overview:
The Healthcare Application Analyst acts as a bridge between system users, operational leaders, and vendors to effectively design, develop, and enhance their designated applications in a timely and quality-focused manner. This role is responsible for providing application support and optimization, collaborating closely with the Service Desk to address service requests. The Analyst must possess the ability to evaluate business challenges and workflows, applying their application expertise to fulfill operational and organizational requirements. Responsibilities include working with clients to analyze, test, document, and implement medium to high complexity software activities.
- Conduct analysis, development, testing, documentation, education, implementation, support, and maintenance of assigned applications and business processes to meet operational and technical needs.
- Collaborate across project boundaries with various teams, proposing practical solutions to challenges and communicating interdependencies with project leadership to ensure quality and interoperability.
- Utilize a foundational understanding of information technology, including systems, applications, operations, and support, effectively leveraging application training and resources.
- Understand customer needs and expectations clearly, documenting business processes and workflows accurately, and communicating these with project teams and stakeholders.
- Provide organized status updates on key project areas for stakeholder communication.
- Perform basic process and requirement analysis, including process mapping, documentation, and specification gathering to support problem-solving and negotiate creative solutions.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with end users, asking insightful questions to understand their issues and needs.
- Make informed decisions based on facts, researching multiple options to identify viable solutions, and contributing to strategy discussions.
- Adhere to organizational standards for system configuration and change management.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in applications, independently designing and configuring systems while performing data gathering and analysis with limited guidance.
- Build strong relationships with end user communities, customers, and business partners.
- Work with Operational Leaders to standardize best practice workflows and ensure alignment across all departments.
- Coordinate code changes with vendors regarding financial and business application issues.
- Collaborate with the Technical Team to identify infrastructure-related issues affecting applications.
- Share industry best practices from vendors with Operational Leaders.
- Increase technical knowledge of assigned applications, understanding the relationship between infrastructure and user impact.
- Act as a liaison between business operations, internal IT, system users, and vendors to resolve issues within project objectives.
- Follow strict change management processes, ensuring proper approval, testing, and validation of system changes.
- Produce written documentation that requires minimal edits and is trusted by requestors and project teams.
- Recognize personal skills and work habits, adjusting positively based on constructive feedback.
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve minor incidents and requests.
- Complete tasks with attention to detail and high quality, performing self-reviews prior to finalization.
- Manage low to medium complexity projects and requests, collaborating with team members as necessary.
- Complete assigned educational courses and attend presentations as required.
- Ensure services provided contribute to the department's primary mission.
- Ensure vendors meet agreed-upon service level agreements and follow established processes.
- May require travel to fulfill job duties.
- May involve additional hours during critical issues.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities, demonstrating a proactive attitude in challenging situations.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in healthcare, business, or information systems.
- Ability to present complex data in meaningful formats, such as charts and graphs.
- Adaptability to implement change.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Team collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to foster effective teamwork and education.
- Exceptional organizational skills in managing multiple priorities.
- 1+ years of experience in healthcare, business, or information systems.
- Ability to resolve minor to moderate incidents with guidance.
- Capability to develop new functionalities for requests with direction.
- Preferred certifications in the area of focus.
For Epic Analysts:
- Certification or proficiency in assigned Epic module (must be obtained within the first six months of employment).
- Maintain current certifications or proficiencies by completing new version training.
