The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont is seeking a renowned physician leader and scholar in neurology to serve as the next Chair of Neurological Sciences. This is a unique opportunity to lead the Department's academic education and research, as well as the clinical operations of the Department for the UVM Health Network.

About the Department

The Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Vermont reflects the merger of two longstanding departments – Neurology and Anatomy & Neurobiology. The Department maintains a robust program of clinical, translational, and basic science investigations relevant to neurological disorders. Current funding for the Department, including NIH grants, is more than $6.1M.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Department's academic education and research
  • Oversee the clinical operations of the Department for the UVM Health Network
  • Develop and implement sponsored research programs
  • Mentor diverse faculty and promote a culture of excellence
  • Advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives

Requirements

  • Hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.
  • Be board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Be eligible for medical licensure in Vermont
  • Have credentials appropriate for an appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor (clinical scholar or tenure pathway) at the University of Vermont
