Job Summary

The University of Vermont is seeking a clinical assistant or associate professor with expertise in treating patients with neurologic conditions. The successful candidate will be a physical therapist with a DPT degree and neurologic clinical specialization, eligible for licensure in Vermont. They will have prior teaching experience in an entry-level DPT educational program and strong communication and collaborative abilities.

Responsibilities

The clinical assistant or associate professor will be responsible for teaching in the neurologic patient management and movement system curriculums, based on programmatic needs and content expertise. They will also have clinical practice, scholarship, and academic service responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the ideals of accessibility, inclusiveness, and academic excellence as reflected in the tenets of Our Common Ground.

Requirements

The minimum qualifications for this position include a professional doctoral physical therapy degree, board certification as a neurologic clinical specialist, licensure in any United States jurisdiction, and eligibility for licensure in Vermont. Prior teaching experience in an entry-level DPT educational program is also required. The successful candidate will be expected to have strong communication and collaborative abilities and a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science is comprised of several related disciplines, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise science, and emergency medicine services. The departmental facilities include the Human Motion Analysis laboratory, a physical activity and exercise behavior lab, and a neurophysiology lab that utilizes TMS and EEG. Teaching space includes our recently renovated 2,700 sq-ft lab equipped with contemporary teaching technology. Students and faculty also have access to our state-of-the-art, collaborative, interprofessional Clinical Simulation Laboratory.
