Position Overview:
The Aftermarket Technical Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in understanding and addressing the technical needs of clients. This position is vital for the expansion of the Aftermarket Sales division. The engineer will be tasked with assisting customers and the Aftermarket Field Sales team in managing complex sales orders that require technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with sales teams to identify customer needs and promote the company's product offerings.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with existing equipment.
  • Advise clients on enhancements to materials or machinery that can reduce costs or boost productivity.
  • Provide both technical and non-technical support to clients regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Support the Aftermarket Outside Sales team with technical sales assistance.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of job specifications as directed by the sales team.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to develop solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Oversee project management and facilitate meetings with sales personnel and service technicians to ensure seamless execution.
  • Coordinate with the sales team for customer visits and participate in bidding and site assessment meetings as required.
  • Respond promptly to technical inquiries from customers and the sales team.
  • Engage in direct communication with clients to help resolve issues or complaints.
  • Prepare and distribute technical literature and promotional materials as necessary.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to enhance problem-solving and customer service.
  • Consult with management, clients, and industry representatives regarding business opportunities and potential challenges.
  • Assist in managing project orders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced education in a relevant field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in application sales engineering or a similar technical role.

Specific Skills:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and bids independently.
  • Capability to meet deadlines while coordinating information from various stakeholders.
  • Experience in customer and vendor interactions.
  • Familiarity with pumping systems and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of electric motors, variable frequency drives, control components, and instrumentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and focus on deadlines.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this role require the ability to sit, stand, and walk regularly, as well as the frequent use of hands for handling or touching equipment. Effective communication skills are essential for this position.
