Position Summary:

The Sales Forecasting Specialist is tasked with evaluating sales metrics, predicting future sales trends, and delivering insightful recommendations to influence strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Analysis:
    • Examine historical sales data to uncover trends, patterns, and discrepancies.
    • Generate regular reports detailing sales performance, including deviations from forecasts.
    • Assess the success of sales initiatives and promotional activities.
  • Forecasting:
    • Create and sustain sales forecasts utilizing statistical techniques and business insights.
    • Collaborate with sales, operations, and planning teams to ensure forecasts are both accurate and achievable.
    • Adjust forecasts in response to market dynamics, promotional efforts, and other influencing factors.
    • Analyze customer forecast data and convert it into actionable insights for internal forecasting requirements.
    • Support the Sales Operating and Planning process with a thorough review of item-level impacts on inventory and delivery timelines.
  • Market Research:
    • Conduct market analysis to identify potential growth avenues and risks.
    • Evaluate competitor performance and market conditions to guide strategic planning.
    • Provide insights into customer preferences and behaviors.
  • Data Management:
    • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of sales data through diligent database maintenance.
    • Effectively implement and utilize forecasting software and tools.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and other data visualization instruments.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Assist in the formulation of sales strategies and business plans.
    • Engage in cross-functional meetings to align sales forecasts with operational strategies.
    • Offer recommendations to optimize inventory levels and enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare and present analytical reports to management, emphasizing key insights and recommendations.
    • Monitor and report on critical performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales and forecasting.
    • Translate business inquiries into reporting and analytical needs.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, statistics, finance, or a related discipline with a proven work history.

Experience: Demonstrated hands-on experience in sales analysis, forecasting, or a similar role.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in statistical analysis and forecasting methodologies.
  • Understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles.
  • Familiarity with advanced data analytics tools and software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Experience with various ERP systems and external planning software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proactive and self-driven with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience in the outdoor, recreational, or professional products sector is advantageous.
  • Bilingual candidates in English and Spanish are preferred.
