About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Surgery Technician to join our team at Ethos Veterinary Health. As a key member of our veterinary healthcare professionals, you will play a vital role in providing top-tier care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preoperative Patient Care:
    • Prepare surgical suites and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient surgical environment.
    • Sterilize surgical instruments to maintain asepsis and prevent infection.
    • Assist with patient preparation, including positioning and anesthesia administration.
  • Anesthesia Management:
    • Administer and monitor anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and safety.
    • Monitor vital signs during surgery to detect any potential complications.
    • Adjust anesthesia levels as needed to maintain optimal patient care.
  • Surgical Assistance:
    • Provide surgical instruments and supplies to the surgical team.
    • Maintain aseptic technique to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
    • Handle tissues for analysis and diagnosis.
  • Postoperative Care:
    • Monitor patients in recovery to ensure a smooth transition to postoperative care.
    • Provide postoperative care and medication as prescribed by the veterinarian.
    • Maintain detailed records of patient care and treatment.
  • Radiography and Imaging:
    • Take and process X-rays to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
    • Ensure proper patient positioning for radiographic and imaging procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Clean, maintain, and sterilize instruments to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
    • Perform equipment maintenance to ensure optimal function and efficiency.
  • Client Communication:
    • Explain postoperative care and treatment to pet owners.
    • Provide updates on surgical procedures and patient status.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Assist in emergency surgeries and procedures.
    • Administer emergency medications as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Clinical experience in veterinary surgery required.
  • Licensure: Active CA-RVT license is highly desired for this position, but not required.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients. Ability to monitor anesthesia, perform mathematical calculations, and maintain detailed records.
