About the Role

NV5 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Geologist to join our team of site assessment and remediation experts in our Seattle office. This role is ideal for a project-level geologist with a strong background in conducting comprehensive investigations of indoor air, soil, soil gas, and groundwater.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support site assessment and remediation studies and services in both the field and office
  • Support engineering remediation system design, including vapor intrusion mitigation systems (VIMS) and other soil, soil vapor, and groundwater remediation systems
  • Interface directly with project internal and external personnel, including principals, business operations personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulators
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates
  • Prepare and generate routine reports and correspondence of high quality
  • Review field reports prepared by staff/senior staff professionals and provide guidance to field personnel as directed by project managers
  • Manage project tasks, as appropriate, under supervision from senior, associate, and/or principal staff
  • Collect data in complex field situations with limited supervision
  • Prepare routine proposals, including definition of scope, strategies, and cost estimates, in addition to assisting in preparing large-scale or more complex proposals
  • Calculate routine project budgets
  • Review and evaluate complex data and integrate data evaluations
  • Contact vendors and research literature and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare plans and specifications as a member of a design team, or in support of more senior staff
  • Organize field work and assign tasks to staff
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university in geology or a related scientific field
  • 10-15 years of demonstrated consulting experience in Washington
  • Washington registration/license in Geology (LG) or Hydrogeology (LHG) preferred
  • Operational knowledge of computer databases and office programs (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification and OSHA 8-hour Supervisor Training
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare reports and proposals
  • Excellent writing and technical analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively work on project teams
