Restaurant Supervisor Job Description

The Restaurant Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the Food & Beverage team in providing exceptional training and supervision to all restaurant and bar personnel. This position ensures prompt, courteous service that meets Edgewater company standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the overall success of the restaurant by exceeding guest expectations in food & beverage service.
  • Open the restaurant five days per week (6am-2pm) and day-to-day supervision of restaurant staff as the manager on duty.
  • Manage the flow of the restaurant through seating of in-house hotel guests and local patrons.
  • Work with the culinary team to offer and promote breakfast and lunch specials.
  • Build relationships with frequent guests to drive repeat business.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support for other restaurant staff.
  • Supervise the set up and organization of the restaurant for the following meal period.
  • Communicate with the hotel to stay informed on upcoming events and programs that may impact business levels.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with tasks including reviewing inventory, preparing and leading pre-shift meetings, resolving customer issues, menu creation, and leading staff.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a manager, supervisor, or lead in a restaurant setting.
  • Experience in a hotel/resort is a plus.
  • A proven track record of effectively supervising and coaching staff to drive consistent quality of service and products.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a coaching/mentor attitude.
  • The ability to effectively manage and enforce service standards with bartenders, servers, hosts, and food runners.
  • Willingness to learn new restaurant service concepts and ideas.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and management.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues directly.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50lbs.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Open availability with the expectation of typically working 5 shifts a week as a full-time team member or 2-4 shifts as a part-time team member.
  • Food Safety Certification is preferred.
  • Bartending experience is preferred.
Working Conditions:

This position operates in a full-service, professional restaurant environment. Restaurant staff are required to use standard restaurant equipment and work in kitchen areas when receiving food orders and returning dishware.
