JOB SUMMARY
The Accountant II is responsible for overseeing the financial records of the company's Affiliates. This role includes managing the input of financial transactions, ensuring the accuracy of financial ledgers, delivering timely management reports, and maintaining optimal cash levels for the company. Additionally, the position involves conducting financial analyses and technical reviews for both existing strategic investments and proposed ventures related to the Affiliates.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate invoices and deposits for processing along with necessary journal entries, input financial transactions into company ledgers, reconcile bank and account balances, and record relevant adjusting journal entries.
  • Input and approve bi-weekly payroll batches to ensure accuracy and timely payroll processing.
  • Compile monthly financial reports, including budget versus actual variance analysis and management of company cash positions.
  • Maintain company ledgers and implement appropriate system edit controls.
  • Calculate quarterly member estimated taxes and execute necessary distributions and/or payments to tax authorities.
  • Develop annual entity budgets and forecasts based on inputs from partner intake meetings.
  • Collaborate with affiliate operations team members, company employees, and management on a variety of operational and financial matters.
  • Provide ongoing support for payroll and benefits, analyze new hire compensation and onboarding, manage company insurance coverage and claims processing, and oversee expense control.
  • Prepare and present financial impact analyses to senior management, including analyses to support the expansion of existing entities, establish financial best practices, and explore new investment opportunities.
  • Establish financial operations for new affiliate companies, including creating general ledgers and reports, opening bank accounts, setting up payroll and benefits, and acquiring necessary insurance and assets.
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including preparing client assistance requests and collaborating with audit staff during procedural walkthroughs.
  • Prepare and/or file tax returns for partnership income, personal property taxes, sales and use taxes, and 1099 filings.
  • Complete additional projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance with a minimum of two years of accounting emphasis is required.
  • Two to three years of accounting or finance experience is necessary.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant, Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF), and/or Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite products, particularly Microsoft Excel, is essential.
  • Familiarity with AS400 is desirable.
