Position Overview:

The Financial Accountant plays a crucial role within the Accounting Department, focusing on monthly financial reporting, cash application, and audit preparation. Responsibilities include processing fuel transactions and meter readings, as well as preparing various audit work papers. The role requires thorough investigation and resolution of inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing our commitment to exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily and monthly cash application and reconciliation tasks.
  • Identify and reach out to clients with overdue accounts, documenting interactions in the tracking system.
  • Conduct monthly financial reporting activities.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly sales and use tax submissions.
  • Maintain comprehensive files and documentation in line with company policies and standard accounting practices.
  • Process monthly fuel and meter reading transactions efficiently.
  • Facilitate the setup of new equipment purchases in the financial management system.
  • Assist in maintaining the company’s equipment inventory and fixed asset records.
  • Provide backup support for various accounting roles as needed.
  • Collaborate on special projects as directed by management.
  • Engage with the CFO, Shop Manager, Logistics & Equipment Manager, Sales, and Vendors as necessary.
  • Prepare various work papers for the annual audit process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Preferred minimum of two (2) years of professional accounting experience, with construction or manufacturing experience being advantageous.
  • Proficient computer skills are essential.

Education:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred, or a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in cost or financial accounting.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role may be considered.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and 10-key calculator usage.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills are required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Capable of reviewing and processing a high volume of invoices accurately.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential.
  • Demonstrated dependability, organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High energy, initiative, and the ability to work independently or with guidance.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Able to work efficiently in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based role with interactions involving internal and external customers.
