Position Overview

The selected candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating and delivering field engineering support services for both subcontracted and direct hire operations. Responsibilities encompass site preparation, deep soil mixing, drainage projects, excavation and backfill activities, road construction, piling, and concrete work. The Field Engineer will engage in construction engineering tasks within the civil discipline, which includes interpreting civil design drawings and specifications for the execution of civil works, issuing field change documents and nonconformance reports, and preparing inspection and test reports.

Key Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Documentation

  • Creates construction drawings and sketches.
  • Leads the preparation of construction schedules and designs for temporary construction facilities, ensuring the completion of 'as built' drawings and other job plans.

Material Management

  • Initiates requisitions for field materials.
  • Conducts quantity takeoffs for field-purchased materials and equipment.

Quantity Verification

  • Confirms commodities using quantity tracking systems or other database systems as necessary.

Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Promotes a zero-accident culture and ensures compliance with safety requirements by all personnel in operational areas, verifying that tools and equipment are maintained in safe conditions.

Technical Development

  • Actively seeks opportunities for continuous learning and development in relevant areas.

System Turnover Coordination

  • Gains a comprehensive understanding of system and area scoping and drawings necessary for package development.

Subcontractor Coordination

  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
  • Facilitates the review process for subcontractor submissions.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) is required, along with 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of applicable work experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Knowledge of cost management, including estimating and forecasting.
  • Extensive experience in civil construction on large-scale projects.
  • Familiarity with structural construction operations, surveying, excavation, backfill, and concrete installation.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in direct hire activities such as site preparation, excavation, soil mixing, piling, precast concrete, and marine operations.
  • Technical expertise in drainage systems for infrastructure projects, including excavation, trenching, grading, and general construction near sensitive watercourses.
  • Awareness of current industry quality standards.
  • Commitment to Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) practices, including a demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions related to construction field activities.
  • Experience with roadway construction, mass grading, and slip-form paving activities.
