Position Overview

The University of Oklahoma is committed to enhancing the engineering workforce and is in search of an Engineering Recruitment Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in identifying and engaging with future engineers and scientists, fostering a diverse and talented student body.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and key campus stakeholders to attract top talent to our engineering programs.
  • Conduct visits to schools within designated recruitment areas, which may involve extended travel, including overnight stays and weekends.
  • Regularly communicate with prospective students and their supporters through various channels, including emails, phone calls, and in-person interactions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Outreach and Recruitment to develop strategies that effectively address the needs of prospective engineering students.
  • Present engaging information sessions to prospective students, families, and educational professionals to promote the University of Oklahoma's engineering offerings.
  • Assist in organizing outreach and recruitment events, both on-campus and off-campus, as well as coordinating individualized school visits.
  • Create and manage recruitment communications in partnership with departmental and campus collaborators.
  • Support various departmental and college events aimed at enhancing student engagement.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, along with a minimum of 12 months of relevant experience.
  • Alternatively, 48 months of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, totaling 60 months of relevant experience.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with interdepartmental teams and initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficient communication skills, enabling rapport-building with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Competence in producing reports and completing tasks within specified timelines.
  • Familiarity with database management and maintenance.
  • Attention to detail for accuracy in data handling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate confidently to large audiences.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is necessary for regional travel, which constitutes approximately 25% of the role.

Work Environment:

  • This position is primarily based in a general office setting.
  • The role involves repetitive motions and requires frequent sitting and standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs for accessing recruitment materials is necessary.
