Position Overview:
The Department of Medicine is engaged in federally funded NIH or industry-sponsored clinical research that involves pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biologic agents, imaging technologies, and innovative advancements. This role is crucial for coordinating clinical trials within the department, delivering nursing care to research participants, and overseeing research protocols. The Department encompasses eleven divisions that represent various internal medicine subspecialties, and this position may collaborate with study teams across these divisions based on operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Research Nurse, you will:

  • 5% Manage and organize logistics for clinical research projects in alignment with the research plan.
  • 20% Aid in the recruitment and assessment of subjects for clinical studies through comprehensive health evaluations.
  • 10% Deliver professional nursing care to participants in accordance with established protocols.
  • 5% Provide relevant treatment plan guidance and information to study participants.
  • 10% Act as the primary liaison for project participants, investigators, research sponsors, and the research team, ensuring compliance with established research project standards and protocols.
  • 20% Collect, validate, and input data into databases while analyzing clinical information.
  • 5% Serve as the main contact for urgent participant situations related to adverse effects or complications of the study.
  • 5% Offer expertise, training, and guidance to peers, the community, and/or students.
  • 10% Prepare documentation for research participant information, consent, and authorization.
  • 5% Initiate and uphold clinical research regulatory compliance for assigned protocols, including IRB approval and regulatory documentation as per FDA, HHS, and GCP guidelines.
  • 5% Assist in the formulation of a comprehensive budget for each clinical research protocol.

Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and be eligible for RN licensure in the State of Wisconsin. Relevant nursing experience is required, and familiarity with clinical trials, good clinical practices, and federal research regulations is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and possess strong time management abilities, with the capacity to work independently or collaboratively while managing multiple projects.

Licensure/Certification:
Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure.

Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 60% - 100%
This position is expected to be performed in-person at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type:
Ongoing/Renewable

Salary:
Minimum: $62,500 ANNUAL (12 months)
The anticipated salary range for this position is $62,500 up to $87,500 for highly experienced candidates. Actual compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
