Position Overview:


The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Palliative Care is in search of an academic clinician specializing in Health Services research.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in sub-specialties such as Central Nervous System, genitourinary or gastrointestinal tumors, or sarcomas.

The selected physician will be expected to actively engage in collaborative research efforts and develop clinical and/or translational research initiatives within the division, while also securing and maintaining independent extramural funding.

Duties will encompass direct patient care, including ambulatory, inpatient, and consult services; (60%)

  • Outreach services at designated UW Health locations, along with inpatient call coverage.
  • Protected time (40%) will be allocated for the development of a research or teaching program and engagement in scholarly activities.
  • Instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows in conjunction with clinical practice.
  • Actively promoting efforts to enhance diversity among clinical trial participants.


The successful candidate will also participate in administrative and committee responsibilities to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. Collaboration with fellow faculty members will be a vital aspect of these duties.

Clinical research at UWCCC is conducted by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams, supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators routinely enroll patients in therapeutic intervention trials at our clinical sites. We are affiliated with NCCN, ECOG-ACRIN, Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON), and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO).


The Division of Hematology/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care operates within the Department of Medicine and the NCI-designated UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Division is engaged in all aspects of cancer research, encompassing prevention, screening, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care.

MD, DO, or equivalent

Qualifications:


Experience in health services, clinical and/or translational research, demonstrated success in publications in peer-reviewed journals, strong communication skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential. Evidence of excellence in teaching and the potential to secure extramural funding is also required.

These efforts will contribute to enhancing national recognition for our division and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.


For appointment at the Associate Professor level on the CHS Track, candidates must meet the criteria established by the department and outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment.


Licensure/Certification:
Required
ABIM - American Board of Internal Medicine Certification
Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Completion of an accredited fellowship training program in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology is mandatory.

Eligibility for a Wisconsin medical license is required.

Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%

This position is expected to be performed in-person at a designated campus work location.
