The Housekeeping Operations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and overseeing the entire housekeeping and laundry operations within a skilled nursing facility, ensuring compliance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. You will coordinate and support all departmental activities, collaborating with various levels of facility staff to maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and well-supplied environment, thereby ensuring the highest quality of resident care at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews, hire, and orient housekeeping, floor care, and laundry personnel
  • Train staff in housekeeping, laundry, and floor care techniques, along with proper equipment usage and maintenance
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise departmental functions and activities
  • Oversee and assess the quality of work performed by department staff
  • Ensure the environment remains sanitary, appealing, and orderly
  • Forecast and plan for the procurement of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment
  • Develop work and staffing schedules to guarantee adequate service delivery
  • Maintain essential records, including inventory, compliance, financial, and personnel documentation
  • Facilitate regular management meetings and liaise with other departments to synchronize housekeeping efforts
  • Manage a budget-conscious program
  • Ensure the department is always prepared for inspections, adhering to all relevant regulations
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, visitors, and community departments
  • Actively engage in facility meetings and committees
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Encourage the professional growth and development of the entire departmental team
  • Conduct quality assurance rounds and inspections to maintain effective quality controls
  • Report on monthly initiatives, goals, and achievements
  • Promote and monitor resident satisfaction
  • Perform housekeeping, laundry, or floor care tasks as needed
  • Undertake additional job duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • A four-year college degree or equivalent related experience is strongly preferred; a high school diploma/GED is required
  • Two years of experience in housekeeping services within a healthcare setting and personnel supervision is preferred
  • Proficient in motivating and supervising team members
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, and a positive attitude
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and achieve established goals
  • Strong public speaking abilities
  • Excellent stress management, administrative, organizational, and follow-through skills
  • Ability to interact positively with residents, clients, and other personnel
  • Willingness to work various shifts as necessary
  • Proficient in Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Capable of working around cleaning chemicals
  • Able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods
