Job Title: Delicatessen Department Manager

At Hy-Vee, we are committed to providing exceptional customer service and creating a positive work environment. As a Delicatessen Department Manager, you will play a key role in achieving this goal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Department Management: Oversee the daily operations of the delicatessen department, including inventory management, ordering, and stocking.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train a team of employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide excellent customer service and maintain a clean and organized department.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving merchandise, to ensure that the department is always stocked with fresh and high-quality products.
  • Financial Management: Manage department finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses.
  • Store Image: Maintain a clean and organized department, including the display cases, shelves, and floors, to ensure that the store presents a positive image to customers.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in a retail or food service environment, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills, strong leadership and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and basic math skills.
Working Conditions:

This position is exposed to dust, noise, equipment movement hazards, and electrical shock on a daily basis. Has occasional exposure to temperature extremes and cleaning chemicals/solvents. This is a fast-paced work environment.

Telephone, fax, copier, intercom system, computer, calculator, C.A.R.S. reordering system, kitchen utensils, wrapping machine, garbage disposal, trash compactor, cardboard compactor, box cutter, slicer, scales, delivery van, pallet jack, hot wrapper, and knives.
