Overview
General Proximity is an innovative startup focused on creating the next generation of induced-proximity therapeutics. Our proprietary OmniTAC drug discovery platform enables the development of molecules that harness existing cellular mechanisms to address therapeutic challenges that have historically been difficult to tackle.
Company Background
The field of drug discovery has long faced obstacles in developing compounds that can effectively target challenging or 'undruggable' proteins. While traditional drug development primarily relies on inhibition, there are numerous other potential intervention strategies that remain largely unexplored.
At General Proximity, we are pioneering a unique approach to drug discovery by designing bifunctional agents that promote the modification of therapeutic targets through the body's own cellular processes, rather than through direct interaction with the drug itself.
Position Summary
We are in search of a highly skilled cancer biologist to take a leadership role within our Biology Team. This position entails guiding and overseeing our research efforts while collaborating closely with our Platform Team to advance our core drug discovery technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing phenotypic assays
- Establishing pre-clinical in vitro/in vivo studies
- Conducting mechanistic investigations on lead compounds
- Exploring new oncology indications
- Contributing to grant writing efforts

Qualifications
- PhD in Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline
- 5-7+ years of relevant industry experience
- In-depth knowledge of small-molecule drug discovery and its implications for human health
Essential Skills:
- Expertise in mechanistic studies of cancer signaling pathways
- Experience in developing phenotypic assays for cancer drug discovery
- Background in small molecule drug development processes
- Strong foundation in cellular and molecular biology techniques
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing a team of scientists and research associates
- Knowledge of target selection and pre-clinical study design
- Familiarity with animal models of cancer
- Experience in managing contract research organizations for in vivo studies
- Proficiency in grant writing
