Position Title: Construction Cost Estimator

Location: Eastchurch

Salary Range: £30,000 - £65,000

Working Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Employment Type: Permanent

Immediate Start: Flexible notice periods considered

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Construction Cost Estimator who can effectively manage a demanding workload and contribute to a dynamic organization. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience in a similar capacity within the construction sector. While a degree in Quantity Surveying is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement. The successful applicant should be adept at collaborating with a diverse contractor specializing in civil engineering, groundwork, rail, and utility projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective commercial oversight of projects
  • Provide insights and support to determine optimal value solutions
  • Establish and nurture strong supply chain partnerships
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients
  • Identify and procure suitable subcontractors
  • Negotiate and finalize subcontract agreements within specified timelines
  • Deliver cost-data analysis to senior management
  • Stay informed about innovative materials and construction techniques
  • Oversee financial management aspects of project development
  • Review and forecast current cost estimates and provide reports
  • Conduct measurements from technical drawings
  • Prepare tenders and source subcontractors, materials, and goods
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant codes of practice impacting estimating, including Building Regulations and HSE
  • Contribute to the execution of monthly Cost Value Reconciliation meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office with strong Excel capabilities
  • Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships
  • Experience in managing payment applications
  • Prior experience in project and contract communications
  • Solid understanding of NEC and standard contract forms
  • Capable of performing civil measurements independently
  • Experience in estimating civil works at both tender and post-contract stages
  • Familiarity with groundwork estimates
  • Minimum of three years in Quantity Surveying
  • Relevant qualifications such as Construction BTEC or HNC
  • Experience in assisting with payment applications and pricing variations
  • Exposure to client meetings
  • Basic understanding of construction contracts
  • Interest or experience in light to medium civil works
  • CSCS Card holder
