We are seeking a proactive and motivated Cost Estimator who can effectively manage a demanding workload and contribute to a thriving organization.

The ideal candidate will possess at least 3 years of experience in a similar capacity within the construction sector. While a degree in Cost Estimation is advantageous, it is not mandatory. You should be adept at collaborating with a diverse contractor focused on civil engineering, groundwork, rail, and utilities.



Responsibilities of a Cost Estimator:
Assist in the efficient commercial oversight of projects

Provide insights and support to determine optimal value solutions

Establish and nurture effective supply chain partnerships

Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients

Identify and procure appropriate subcontractors

Negotiate and finalize subcontract agreements within set timelines

Deliver cost-data feedback to directors and senior management

Stay informed about new materials and construction techniques that may benefit the business

Manage the financial aspects of project development

Review and forecast the latest cost estimates and provide reports

Measure from technical drawings

Prepare tenders and source subcontractors, goods, and materials

Maintain current knowledge of relevant codes of practice affecting estimating, such as Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and HSE guidelines

Contribute to the execution of monthly CVR meetings

Perform any additional duties as directed by the Directors/Commercial Manager

Qualifications and Skills of a Cost Estimator:
Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office with strong Excel capabilities

Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Strong relationship-building skills

Experience in payment applications

Previous responsibility for project and contract communications

Solid understanding of NEC/Standard form contracts

Capability to perform civil measurements independently

Experience in pricing civil works, both at tender and post-contract stages

Familiarity with groundwork estimates

Cost Estimation Experience:
Minimum of 3 years

Construction BTEC/HNC Qualified

Experience in assisting with payment applications

Experience in pricing variations to contracted works

Previous exposure to client meetings

Basic understanding of construction contracts

Interest or experience in light to medium civil works

Ability to perform civil measurements with limited supervision

CSCS Card
