Risk Management Director

At American Express, we're committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences and driving business growth. As a Director of Control Management Risk Assessment, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our operations and mitigating risk.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of risk management professionals in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks across the organization.
- Develop and implement robust risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Collaborate with business units, functional areas, and geographies to identify and address risk areas, and develop strategies to enhance resilience.
- Provide expert guidance on risk management best practices, and facilitate training and development programs for risk management professionals.
- Develop and maintain risk dashboards, key risk indicators, and risk registers to ensure ongoing monitoring and reporting of risk trends and activities.
- 6+ years of experience in operational risk management, with a strong understanding of risk management lifecycle activities.
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with senior business and technical counterparts.
- Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes.
- Experience in the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas: risk identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation, risk reporting, or risk governance.
