The Assistant Director of Risk Management plays a critical role in overseeing our comprehensive risk management program, ensuring the organization's safety, security, and financial success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and monitoring risk assessments, analyzing documentation, statistics, reports, and market trends.
  • Establishing policies and procedures to identify and address risks in our services and departments.
  • Reviewing and assessing risk management policies and protocols, making recommendations and implementing modifications and improvements.
  • Recommending and implementing risk management solutions, such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, and disaster response measures.
  • Reporting findings on risk exposures to senior executives and implementing strategies to manage insurable and/or hazard risks.
  • Ensuring our risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and strategic imperatives.
  • Establishing the risk management architecture for the organization.
  • Overseeing or monitoring all operational risk management activities.
  • Directing or recommending the purchase of insurance programs, identifying exposures, recommending solutions, implementing approved programs, promoting loss prevention, updating, and monitoring compliance with insurance procedures and managing safety/risk management manuals.
  • Collaborating on corporate-wide disaster response/business continuity efforts, including training, communication, and testing of plans.
  • Staying informed regarding regulatory trends and best practices and counseling business partners on measures to avoid, reduce, and mitigate risks.
  • Attending management meetings, committees, and workgroups, as well as Board and Board committee meetings as needed.
  • Utilizing corporate services resources, such as Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Information Services, Marketing, etc., as appropriate.
  • Managing the performance of direct and indirect reports, providing orientation, coaching, training, and development, and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing and resources to support department/agency services.
  • Monitoring productivity and participating in annual budget preparation.
  • Interviewing and participating in the selection process for qualified staff in collaboration with Human Resources and department management.
  • Performing other job-related functions as requested.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, or a related field, and at least one year of related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment. Strong project management skills and a thorough understanding of risk management policies and best practices are also essential.
