Duties Description

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be an experienced professional in staff development, serving in a leadership capacity as a direct assistant to the Director of Talent Development and Training.

Responsibilities will center on managing workforce learning initiatives that align with OPWDD's core mission to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.

Essential skills will include strong interpersonal abilities, effective verbal and written communication, organizational proficiency, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Training, supporting, and supervising trainers/instructors to ensure instructional quality and achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Possessing or being willing to obtain and maintain instructor and instructor-trainer certifications, including PROMOTE, based on identified needs and priorities.
  • Developing and delivering a variety of high-quality learning experiences based on assessed needs and mandates.
  • Evaluating the quality and effectiveness of existing training programs and implementing targeted improvement strategies.
  • Collaborating with a diverse group of administrators, clinicians, and others to identify staff development and training needs, and developing effective strategies to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel overnight for certification attainment and to assist OPWDD statewide as required.
  • Participating as a member of the Development Council and/or other committees, managing and facilitating meetings, and providing support to managers in service delivery.
  • Utilizing the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS) and other monitoring tools to review training data and records, ensuring compliance with training mandates and regulatory requirements.
  • Creating training schedules (current and proposed) to optimize resources, ensure outcomes, and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Employing WebEx and MS Office tools, including WORD, POWERPOINT, EXCEL, OUTLOOK, and TEAMS, to develop professional training documents, reports, manage communications, and coordinate meetings.
  • Serving as a New Employee Orientation instructor (specifically, PRAISE and Individual Rights).
  • Providing training and maintaining instructor compliance in required trainings (e.g., PROMOTE, OER Supervisory Training, etc.).

  • Supervising Training Specialist 1's and other staff within the department.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
