The Senior IT Solutions Architect is responsible for implementing and enhancing applications that fulfill end-user needs while aligning with business objectives. This role involves identifying improvement opportunities, making informed recommendations, and designing and executing effective solutions and technical workflows.


In this position, the Senior IT Solutions Architect will assess complex project requests to establish technical requirements, identify necessary resources for implementation, and provide estimates for resources and technical skills needed to achieve business and technical goals. This role manages multiple high-complexity solutions simultaneously, offering technical direction to software engineering and application teams while overseeing the engineering aspects of all projects.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance in software design, development, and implementation processes.

• Lead and engage in design reviews, recommending enhancements.

• Support all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.

• Mentor and train other Engineers and Analysts as needed.

• Analyze and resolve complex application issues promptly.

• Develop optimal technical solutions to meet business needs.

• Collaborate with Engineers and Analysts to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks within established deadlines.

• Assist in risk assessment and mitigation efforts.

• Facilitate team meetings to communicate project status and brainstorm new ideas or address issues.

• Recommend innovative technologies to enhance quality and productivity.

• Conduct technical audits and implement recommendations.

• Present business updates to management as required.


Stay current with advancements in development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment by engaging in educational opportunities, reading professional literature, and participating in relevant organizations.


• Maintain confidentiality and safeguard organizational information.

• Gather, analyze, and summarize development and service issues to provide insights.

• Contribute to the achievement of engineering and organizational objectives by delivering results as needed.

• Support and nurture software engineers through coaching and educational opportunities.

• Assist in the maintenance and upgrades of existing software applications.

• Demonstrate a willingness to learn and become certified in Epic application systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent software experience.

• 7+ years of relevant professional experience.

• 8+ years of experience as a Cerner software/solution engineer, including 3+ years in a senior capacity.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Strong knowledge of professional software engineering practices and the full software development life cycle.

• Proven experience in coaching and mentoring.

• Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

• Adaptability to a rapidly evolving environment.
