Position: Reliability Engineer
Location: North Mobile, AL
Role Overview
The Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role within the Manufacturing Group, focusing on enhancing the performance and longevity of operational assets. This position is designed to provide essential technical support aimed at maximizing the efficiency and life cycle of the plant's equipment. The Reliability Engineer is pivotal in fostering a culture of reliability and aims to achieve a long-term reduction in asset lifecycle costs. Responsibilities include developing and expanding preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment reliability and operational uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a safe working environment by exemplifying a strong commitment to safety practices.
- Take primary responsibility for the development, optimization, and content of the Preventive Maintenance program.
- Act as a key technical resource for the site, specializing in Predictive Maintenance technologies, non-destructive testing, lubrication selection, Root Cause Failure Analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
- Optimize and oversee the Predictive Maintenance Program at the facility.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance utilizing predictive maintenance technologies and technical expertise as necessary.
- Lead the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process, guiding team efforts to investigate equipment failures and implement changes to prevent recurrence.
- Manage capital and expense projects aimed at executing RCFA follow-up actions, enhancing asset reliability, and reducing maintenance costs.
- Collaborate with project engineers and operations teams to ensure the reliability of new and modified assets while minimizing total lifecycle costs.
- Work alongside reliability coordinators and maintenance technicians to enhance lubrication and predictive maintenance processes.
- Support the reliability coordinator in initiatives aimed at optimizing preventive maintenance.
- Engage with plant personnel at all levels to enhance knowledge, techniques, and procedures that impact equipment reliability.
- Coordinate closely with equipment vendors, repair facilities, and the onsite maintenance team to ensure appropriate sourcing of equipment and repair methods.
- Communicate with other Maintenance & Reliability organizations to share benchmarking data and best practices.
- Develop and implement training programs to cultivate a reliability culture and promote continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure critical spare parts are effectively sourced and maintained.
- Utilize SAP for work notification reporting/tracking, PM scheduling, asset-linked spare parts, and CAPEX functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in reliability engineering.
- Strong knowledge of reliability concepts, predictive maintenance technologies, and root cause analysis.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated capability to solve complex technical issues and troubleshoot equipment.
- Experience in organizing and executing projects that enhance asset reliability.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis and predictive maintenance technologies (such as vibration analysis, motion amplification, infrared thermography, and acoustic monitoring).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of process equipment and components (including pumps, fans, dryers, mills, blowers, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, motors, seals, etc.).
- Knowledge of SAP maintenance systems is preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Preferred experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
