Position: Reliability Engineer
Location: North Mobile, AL
Role Overview
The Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role within the Manufacturing Group, focusing on enhancing the performance and longevity of operational assets. This position is designed to provide technical expertise aimed at fostering a culture of reliability and reducing the lifecycle costs associated with assets. The Reliability Engineer is instrumental in developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure optimal equipment performance and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a safe working environment by exemplifying a strong commitment to safety practices.
- Take ownership of the development and optimization of the Preventive Maintenance program.
- Act as a primary technical resource on Predictive Maintenance technologies, non-destructive testing, lubrication selection, Root Cause Failure Analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance.
- Manage and enhance the Predictive Maintenance Program at the facility.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance utilizing predictive maintenance technologies and technical knowledge as required.
- Lead the Root Cause Failure Analysis process, collaborating with teams to investigate equipment failures and implement preventive measures.
- Oversee capital and expense projects aimed at improving asset reliability and reducing maintenance expenditures.
- Collaborate with project engineers and operations teams to ensure the reliability of new and modified assets while minimizing total lifecycle costs.
- Work alongside reliability coordinators and maintenance technicians to enhance lubrication and predictive maintenance processes.
- Support reliability coordinators in initiatives aimed at optimizing preventive maintenance.
- Engage with plant personnel at all levels to enhance knowledge, techniques, and procedures impacting equipment reliability.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors, repair facilities, and onsite maintenance teams to ensure the effective sourcing of equipment and repair methodologies.
- Communicate with other Maintenance & Reliability organizations to share best practices and benchmarking insights.
- Develop and implement training programs to cultivate a reliability-focused culture and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure critical spare parts are sourced and maintained effectively.
- Utilize SAP for work notification reporting, PM scheduling, asset-linked spare parts, and CAPEX functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in reliability engineering.
- Strong knowledge of reliability principles, predictive maintenance technologies, and root cause analysis.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated skills in solving complex technical issues and troubleshooting equipment.
- Experience in organizing and executing projects that enhance asset reliability.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis and predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, motion amplification, infrared thermography, acoustic monitoring).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of process equipment and components (such as pumps, fans, dryers, mills, blowers, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, motors, seals).
- Experience with SAP maintenance systems is preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Preferred background in continuous improvement methodologies.
