Position Overview

The Senior Salesforce Business Analyst is responsible for crafting business cases, performing in-depth analyses, assessing Salesforce functionalities, and identifying user requirements. This role involves recommending viable solutions that align with the functional, technical, and operational needs of the campus. The analyst collaborates with project and technical teams to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints, project scope, and timelines, while also guiding team members in change management and process enhancement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive requirements gathering and analysis, which includes documenting existing systems and business workflows, identifying complex issues, formulating implementation strategies, and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborates with various campus departments and stakeholders to collect all necessary functional, technical, and business requirements, creating detailed specifications. Documents workflows and results from business analyses to achieve efficiency and cost-effectiveness, securing user approval on specifications.
  • Designs and implements testing protocols to verify that requirements and specifications are accurately executed, meeting both strategic and operational goals.
  • Engages with clients throughout the development process to ensure that business needs are fulfilled, including usability assessments, acceptance testing, reporting, data quality, and facilitating data-driven decision-making.
  • Partners with technical leads and developers to create sustainable and scalable technical solutions. Aids technical teams in translating Salesforce capabilities into applications, systems, and technology solutions that comply with campus IT architecture and standards.
  • Articulates business directives, objectives, and requirements to technical teams, serving as the liaison between campus management and technical staff; manages expectations and establishes metrics for project completion and user satisfaction.
  • Acts as the primary contact for users to address inquiries and issues; performs critical analytical troubleshooting as necessary before escalating to the technical team.
  • Oversees change management processes, including user training and adoption strategies.
  • Mentors and develops junior business analyst personnel and contributes to campus-wide initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Understands long-term strategic goals of the campus and departments, recommending processes and technologies to achieve these objectives, while introducing innovations to business practices through technology where applicable.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet departmental and university objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of seven years of experience in business analysis or a related field.
  • Progressive experience in supporting IT operations or business analysis.
  • Proficient in analytical methodologies, interviewing techniques, data collection methods, business process redesign, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and execute business analysis and project deliverables with a high level of service across diverse teams, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Highly organized and motivated, with a proactive approach to identifying information, resources, and problem-solving, while fostering relationships with team members and clients.
  • Ability to create and apply measurable techniques for enhancing business processes.
  • Proven ability to meet critical deadlines and work independently.
  • Proficient in business software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce functionalities.
  • Experience in the higher education sector.

Work Environment

Typical office setting.

Work Schedule

  • Standard workweek of Monday to Friday, totaling 37.5 hours.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Potential for a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for work to be conducted outside of the campus workspace for part of the week.
  • Opportunity for a remote work schedule, defined as working from a location other than the UMass Amherst campus.
