College/Department Information

The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) is a pioneering initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, focused on harnessing the immune system's potential to fight diseases.

IMMCG aims to assemble teams of biomedical researchers renowned for their scientific innovation and technological advancements.

Co-directed by esteemed immunologists, the center's mission is to develop novel and effective treatments for prevalent health issues affecting Georgia and the broader United States.

The center is actively seeking faculty and staff to spearhead projects targeting cardiovascular diseases, obesity, autoimmune disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.

Job Summary

Assist in the training and oversight of new laboratory students as required.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Experiments - 25%

Evaluate experimental results and procedures utilizing manual or computational methods, and develop specialized software if necessary.

Instruct and engage in complex bacteriological, chemical, and serological analyses, as well as histological and cell culture techniques.


Project Planning & Protocols - 25%

Contribute to project planning and the formulation of research protocols while ensuring compliance with established scientific principles and federal regulations.


Scientific Literature & Meetings - 15%

Conduct research on scientific literature; summarize and assess findings; create derivative applications based on personal research or other projects.

Present research findings at scientific conferences on local, national, and international stages.


Articles - 15%
Draft articles for publication in scientific journals; review submissions from colleagues.
General Duties - 5%

Oversee and coordinate the activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel involved in laboratory work.


Technical - 8%

Calibrate, troubleshoot, and operate microscopes and analytical equipment; provide training on equipment usage.


Techniques - 5%

Advise the principal investigator and other research personnel on research methodologies and technological aspects of projects.


Other Duties - 2%
Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Ph.D. or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines. Willingness to work with research animals. Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software, or willingness to learn.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift:
Days; Monday-Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range for the position.

Recruitment Period:
