We are seeking a Loan Portfolio Analyst II to enhance our Servicing - Portfolio & Asset Management division. This role demands a detail-oriented, service-focused individual who thrives under deadlines and will undertake responsibilities such as financial statement and rent roll analysis, watchlist/surveillance, reserve disbursement requests, new loan audits, underwriting borrower consent requests, calculating and coordinating loan payoffs, and fulfilling investor requirements. The emphasis will be on managing commercial mortgage risk and delivering exceptional customer service. Additional responsibilities may evolve as the company expands in alignment with departmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and prioritize workload to effectively meet departmental benchmarks.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to lenders, borrowers, servicing staff, and regional offices.
  • Oversee a portfolio of commercial real estate loans from various Life Insurance Company Lenders, adhering to diverse requirements and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of annual and quarterly financial statements for multifamily and commercial properties, ensuring compliance with the standards of various Life Insurance Company Lenders and other investors.
  • Engage with borrowers and management companies regarding discrepancies and general income and expense inquiries.
  • Evaluate and recommend releases from reserves, including replacement, repair, capital expenditure, TI/LC, and insurance loss.
  • Track maturing loans and issue necessary notifications to borrowers.
  • Update and monitor monthly loan reports utilized by investors and management for portfolio risk assessment.
  • Audit new loan boarding and setup to confirm accurate capture of loan terms and covenants in the servicing system.
  • Underwrite and provide recommendations for lender consent on borrower requests, including lease approvals, maturity extensions, partial releases/substitutions of collateral, easements, condemnations, ownership transfers, loan assumptions, etc.
  • Calculate and coordinate loan payoff requests, including yield maintenance calculations.
  • Monitor and collect outstanding mortgage payments, meticulously documenting collection efforts.
  • Foster and develop strong relationships with Northmarq's Life Insurance Company Lenders.
  • Participate in procedure committees to update policies and procedures for Portfolio & Asset Management.
  • Engage in training and mentoring across teams on areas of expertise, including analysis, underwriting, and general commercial real estate knowledge.
  • Execute other reasonable tasks/projects as assigned within the department.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in finance, real estate, or accounting.
  • 2-5 years of experience in finance or accounting, with a preference for a background in commercial lending or servicing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate finance and commercial loan terminology.
  • Strong analytical and modeling capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Committed to providing exceptional customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and willingness to work extended hours when necessary.

  • Problem-solving skills commensurate with responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
