Job Summary

The Washington University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Administrative Director to oversee the administrative and operational functions of the CURB Engineering Research Center. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, manage center operations and staff, coordinate research initiatives, foster collaborations, and ensure compliance with university and NSF policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the center's strategic plan in collaboration with faculty and university leadership.
  • Center Operations: Oversee the operations of the center, including budget planning and monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Staff Management: Oversee staff recruitment, performance evaluation, and professional development.
  • Research Coordination: Collaborate with faculty members and researchers to facilitate research activities and projects.
  • Partnerships: Establish and maintain partnerships with industry, government agencies, and other research organizations.
  • Proposal Development: Assist in proposal development and fundraising efforts to support the center's activities.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports and presentations for the Center Executive Leadership Council, Deans Council, and National Science Foundation.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in research laboratory operations or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in budget management and financial forecasting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Institutional Policies: Familiarity with relevant institutional policies and procedures.
