Position Overview

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Procurement Officer to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing procurement processes for engineering professional services that support transportation projects across the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Leadership: Oversee and direct procurement activities to establish contracts for engineering services, ensuring alignment with the needs of various Divisions and Districts.
  • Policy Guidance: Provide expert advice on contract administration, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and organizational policies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive procurement records, ensuring all documentation meets agency standards and is readily accessible.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other procurement professionals and stakeholders to achieve common goals and enhance service delivery.
  • Contract Management: Act as the primary contact for contract administration, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Goods and Services Procurement: Facilitate the procurement of goods and services, utilizing competitive negotiation and bidding processes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in applying procurement laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate technical procurements and communicate findings effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams towards improved procurement efficiency.
  • Familiarity with automated procurement systems and e-procurement operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Additional Considerations

  • Possession of relevant procurement certifications is preferred.
  • Experience in public administration or related fields is advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer applications related to procurement.
