Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Officer to join our team at the VA Department of Transportation. As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for carrying out procurement functions for various purchases of goods and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain various procurements using all purchasing methods.
  • Determine appropriate method of competitive process.
  • Investigate problems related to procurement, policy interpretation, contract administration, and vendor performance.
  • Assist with district-wide reviews for procurement compliance to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Develop and conduct internal and external procurement training.
  • Collect and analyze feedback to improve training.
  • Interpretations of Policies and Procedures.
  • Procurement of goods and services.
  • Contract administration.
  • Contracts and documentation.
  • Performance of additional tasks and duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to provide and promote good customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to apply state and local procurement laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Ability to use computers and software applications.
  • Ability to obtain Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) certification.
  • Ability to process procurements in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to resolve contract performance issues and disputes.
  • Ability to formulate term contracts for the purchase of goods and services.
  • Knowledge of contract administration.
Additional Considerations
  • Ability to manage goods and services procurements in a large, multi-dimensional/diverse business environment.
  • Possession of Virginia Contracting Officer (VCO) certification.
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Procurement or related field desired.
