Position Overview:

This role is designed to ensure the safety and security of all individuals within the educational environment. The selected candidate will be part of a continuous recruitment process aimed at establishing a pool of qualified applicants for various elementary schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the school premises, including hallways, cafeterias, restrooms, and parking areas, to promote safety and order.
  • Engage positively with students to foster cooperation and encourage appropriate behavior.
  • Implement effective crime prevention strategies and respond to incidents of violence or disruption.
  • Assist school leadership in minimizing risks related to personal injury, property damage, and educational disruptions through proactive monitoring and emergency response.
  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
  • Enforce school policies regarding conduct on school property and assist in managing conflicts or disturbances.
  • Participate in investigations of student misconduct, gathering evidence and witness statements as necessary.
  • Conduct searches for prohibited items as directed and ensure compliance with vehicle registration protocols.
  • Inspect the security of school facilities, reporting any maintenance issues or safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with school officials to enhance safety measures and promote a sense of pride in school facilities.
  • Provide support during evening events and activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Administer first aid and CPR when required, and work alongside public safety personnel during emergencies.
  • Contribute to the School Safety Team, assisting with emergency planning and training initiatives.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of two years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is required. Candidates should be certified or willing to obtain certification in CPR/AED and First Aid. Successful completion of training to become a certified School Security Officer is mandatory within the initial employment period.

Physical Requirements:

This position involves moderate to high physical activity, including the ability to stand, walk, and respond to various situations. Candidates should be prepared to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:

The role is primarily based in a public school setting, with exposure to various conditions that may include potential hazards. Training in safety and restraint techniques is essential to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
