Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator will report to the Senior Safety Manager and support personnel across all departments. This role requires a candidate who resides in one of the following cities: Raleigh, North Carolina, Richmond, Virginia, Charlotte, North Carolina, or Fairfax, Virginia. Regional travel is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Assist local management in investigating work-related incidents to determine cause and contributing factors.
  • Develop mitigation measures and corrective actions to reduce the risk of hazards from recurring within the organization.
  • Conduct or facilitate training and education programs for supervisory and field employees.
  • Administer recordkeeping and documentation for compliance with safety training policies and requirements.
  • Recommend safe work processes and demonstrate personal protective equipment safety features.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, materials, vehicles, and technical instruments are fit-for-purpose and meet safety standards.
Requirements
  • 3-4 years of Electric Utility Safety Coordinator experience.
  • Associates degree or equivalent related work experience of 4 years.
  • Knowledge of substation safe work practices with reference to OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Ability to consider the relative costs, risks, and benefits of potential actions.
  • Ability to actively listen and use logic and reasoning to identify solutions.
  • Ability to monitor/assess performance and implement corrective actions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BCSP certifications.
  • OSHA 500/ 510 certifications.
Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of physical activity, including bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and working in inclement weather conditions. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
