Job Summary

The Residential Specialist serves as a member of the Residential Program staff, providing support and instruction to residents of the assigned residential site under the supervision of a Program Supervisor or Program Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support services, including daily living skills, life skill development, and supportive residential counseling, as needed by each resident.
  • Support and assist residents in weekly program schedules and outside activities.
  • Maintain the security and safety of residents and the facility.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Individual Recovery Plan for each resident.
  • Supervise and monitor residents in self-medication.
  • Maintain accurate and current client documentation according to accrediting standards.
  • Work in conjunction with the Program Supervisor or Program Director to ensure the overall operations of the Group Home, including ensuring it is safe and clean and has all necessary supplies.
  • Manage the Group Home's petty cash, including submitting monthly petty cash reconciliation.
  • Be responsible for residents' food and personal spending funds and maintain financial logs for these funds.
  • Identify maintenance needs in the home and submit work orders to the Maintenance Department as needed.
  • Work with the Nursing Staff to ensure accurate delivery of medication for residents from the pharmacy and report any discrepancies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, plus four years of related work or life experience.
  • LPN license, plus two years of related work or life experience.
  • Combination of one or more years of college, plus related work or life experience, totaling four years.
  • RN license.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, plus one year of related work or life experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, in mental health, health, or other appropriate human services-related discipline.
Licenses and Certifications

A valid driver's license is required.

Mandated Program Requirements

Behavioral Health Services Completion of comprehensive competency-based training program for individuals providing adult mental health residential services is required. Certification of CPI/CPR/First Aid, issued by a certified trainer within 90 days of employment, is also required. Completion of essential learning online training is necessary.
