About the Institute for Matter and Systems (IMS)

The IMS is an interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to tackling societal, technological, and scientific challenges through integrated knowledge and expertise:

  • Understanding and controlling matter from nanoscale to mesoscale.
  • Synthesizing and characterizing materials for desired properties.
  • Designing novel devices with enhanced capabilities.
  • Integrating materials into larger systems.
  • Utilizing computing and big data to advance research.
  • Incorporating economic and social factors for sustainable research outcomes.

Position Summary

This role involves supporting research activities within IMS cleanrooms and laboratories. The candidate should be well-versed in cleanroom protocols and equipment operation, capable of performing various tasks independently, including training and troubleshooting. A comprehensive understanding of IMS cleanroom technologies is essential for assisting users in fabrication, calibration, and proposal preparation. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit are vital for interacting with users from diverse disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with research groups by providing processing consultation and fabrication services.
  • Develop innovative processes for critical research needs.
  • Conduct independent research and secure external funding.
  • Stay updated on advancements in nanotechnology and explore opportunities for integration.
  • Offer processing support for cleanroom users, including training and troubleshooting.
  • Perform routine equipment tests and prepare performance reports.
  • Educate researchers on nanotechnology through workshops and seminars.
  • Coordinate with IMS staff on equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, or a related field.

Preferred: A higher degree in Engineering/Science and 5 years of cleanroom experience. Familiarity with microelectronics fabrication processes and cleanroom maintenance is advantageous. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning are essential.
