About the Opportunity

J.E. Austin Associates is seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager to play a key role in the company's growth in international development consulting. The successful candidate will lead the creation of business development and marketing strategy, implement and strengthen day-to-day BD operations and processes, and work with leading technical experts and proposal developers to identify new business opportunities, make bid decisions, manage capture, and develop winning proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and update business development strategy and annual business development plans
  • Develop and oversee implementation of business development systems and procedures
  • Identify business opportunities through research, analysis, and client needs assessment
  • Manage business development meetings and business development tracker
  • Lead pre-proposal capture, including research, capture trips to the field, identifying potential partners, and recruitment and teaming
  • Develop competitive and compliant cost proposals
  • Contribute to the recruitment of long and short-term personnel for competitive bids
  • Manage proposals and proposal teams
  • Write sections of competitive and compliant technical proposals
  • Supervise BD consultants to ensure delivery of quality inputs
  • Assist in development of graphics for proposals
  • Lead analysis of lessons learned and manages learning in business development
Marketing and Communications
  • Advise JAA on marketing strategy, planning, and management
  • Manage JAA's website, social media, and marketing materials
  • Coordinate thought leadership and eminence building and assists technical leaders with networking
  • Improve JAA branding and manages JAA's strategic communications and marketing
  • Manage and market JAA's tools and methodologies and productize JAA technical expertise and tools
  • Compile and share success stories and impact stories for JAA's social media presence
Requirements
  • Master's degree in business administration, public policy, economics, political science, agriculture, international relations, or a related field AND 2+ years of experience in international development or related field OR Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience
  • Business development, marketing, and communications experience
  • Experience with marketing and proposal development for US Government agencies, preferably USAID
  • Experience in international development is preferred
  • History of success work with teams of experts
  • Experience managing marketing and communications
  • Proficiency in English and excellent writing skills
Working Relationships

The Business Development Manager will report to the JAA Executive Vice President for Business Development.
