Position Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and manage all aspects of the Integrated Management System (IMS) at the manufacturing facility, ensuring that products consistently meet both internal and external quality standards as well as regulatory requirements. This position also involves supporting the Plant Manager in quality-related communications with clients and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement among all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality System Management:

  • Ensure adherence to all quality management system standards (ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and others as necessary).
  • Act as the primary practitioner for the HACCP program, supporting additional risk assessment needs, including change management.
  • Prepare for and successfully conduct internal and external quality and food safety audits.
  • Provide monthly reports on quality and food safety system metrics as per corporate procedures.

Quality Control Oversight:

  • Guarantee compliance with all regulatory, internal, and customer product specifications.
  • Ensure that customer-required compliance documents are generated (e.g., Certificates of Analysis, regulatory statements).
  • Oversee the plant's quality control program, including product testing and data integrity management.
  • Manage the performance and calibration of quality testing equipment.
  • Assist in the qualification and verification of new products and equipment.
  • Support the optimization and standardization of quality documentation processes.
  • Document and report supplier quality issues according to established procedures.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Conduct periodic customer visits and serve as the primary contact for quality and regulatory communications.
  • Manage the customer complaint process, utilizing root cause analysis techniques to ensure resolution.
  • Support the root cause analysis process and provide training to other departments.

Laboratory Management:

  • Ensure all personnel conducting quality tests are properly trained and qualified.

Team Leadership:

  • Facilitate regular quality staff meetings to promote collaboration.
  • Ensure efficient teamwork and accurate timekeeping for staff.
  • Assist in recruiting new team members in collaboration with HR.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address training needs for staff.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM or technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a proven track record as a QA Manager in a manufacturing setting.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Excel, SPC software, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of statistical methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
  • Ability to manage customer relationships effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills to thrive in a multi-tasking environment.
