Position: Quality Inspector

Overview

We are currently seeking skilled professionals to enhance our diverse workforce. This role is crucial in implementing process enhancements that positively influence our operational performance. A collaborative and transparent approach is essential for success in this position.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Quality Inspector, you will work closely with the Quality Team to provide comprehensive feedback regarding surface quality defects, ensuring that all relevant teams are informed. You will also be responsible for categorizing products based on their quality status and making critical quality decisions on the production line.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Spending 75-80% of your time on the production line conducting inspections.
  • Being present for all critical product evaluations.
  • Utilizing the Notification system and various Quality-related SAP transactions.
  • Conducting sample inspections as required.
  • Documenting quality holds in a detailed and organized manner.
  • Entering quality checks into SAP.
  • Applying hold stickers to products based on observed defects.
  • Implementing the Dots labeling system to ensure proper material identification.
  • Actively participating during setup times at the Slitter, following guidance from the first operator.
  • Attending production or quality meetings to provide firsthand insights.
  • Collaborating frequently with Inside Sales, Material Technology, and Planning teams to meet daily objectives.
  • Interpreting production schedules and cards to determine inspection requirements.
This role necessitates regular communication with colleagues across various departments to make informed decisions regarding customer needs and quality standards.

Qualifications/Training:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; an AS or Technical degree with relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years in a manufacturing setting, ideally within the steel or metal sector.
  • Knowledge of cold rolled steel production processes is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including ERP systems.
  • Experience with various measuring instruments is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated team player with minimal supervision required.
  • Willingness to acquire new skills and adapt to changes.
Flexibility to work various shifts is essential.
