Department Overview:

The N111 Future Space Capabilities Department is committed to providing strategic guidance and data-driven analysis to assist the Department of the Air Force and the US Space Force in designing, developing, acquiring, and integrating future warfighting space capabilities. Our goal is to ensure these systems are ready to counter evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Space Test and Evaluation Specialist, you will act as a subject matter expert and a senior technical leader for the US Space Force. Your extensive knowledge in Test and Evaluation (T&E) and broad systems engineering experience will be crucial in helping the USSF accelerate the delivery of more resilient space systems. Your innovative leadership will play a vital role in the success of our sponsors.

  • Provide senior technical advice on Test and Evaluation to Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), the Combined Test Force, and Space Systems Command.
  • Formulate the overarching strategy to direct T&E planning for ongoing MITRE initiatives supporting STARCOM and T&E squadron sponsors.
  • Conduct thorough analyses, develop options, and recommend enterprise requirements and resources for STARCOM's test range and associated infrastructure.
  • Offer systems engineering expertise and agile process implementation to create test concepts, plans, events, and analyses.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations on T&E processes, metrics, and procedures, including Measures of Effectiveness (MOE), Measures of Suitability (MOS), Measures of Resilience (MORs), Measures of Performance (MOP), and Critical Operational Issues (COI).
  • Lead the development of Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) measures and guide the technical development of Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP).
  • Participate in organizing and executing operational test readiness reviews (OTRR).
  • Identify gaps in test capabilities and recommend improvements to test infrastructure and new capability development through science and technology investments.
  • Advise on annual funding strategies and capability roadmaps.
  • Leverage MITRE's extensive technical expertise to address test challenges and enhance test execution.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering and test & evaluation.
  • Familiarity with the JCIDS process, particularly the DoD test and evaluation procedures.
  • Ability to analyze data and present findings to senior decision-makers.
  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the USSF and space acquisition organizations.
  • Possession of a TS/SCI level security clearance and the ability to be cleared for Special Access Programs.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Space Control T&E.
  • Knowledge of test range operations and infrastructure development.
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Certification: Test & Evaluation Level 3.
  • Current work experience in the Space Systems domain.
  • Previous experience in an operational space squadron or space system program office.

Clearance Requirements:

This position requires a minimum of Top Secret/SCI clearance.

The hired candidate must obtain the necessary Special Access Program clearance within one year of hire.

Salary Range:

$138,500 - $173,000 - $207,500 Annual
