The N111 Future Space Capabilities Department is committed to providing strategic leadership and data-driven insights to empower the Department of the Air Force and the US Space Force in designing, developing, acquiring, and integrating future warfighting space capabilities. Key Responsibilities:

As a Lead Space Test and Evaluation Engineer, you will act as a subject matter expert and a senior technical leader for the US Space Force. Your extensive knowledge in Test and Evaluation (T&E) and comprehensive systems engineering skills will be crucial in assisting the USSF in accelerating the delivery of robust space systems. Your innovative leadership will play a pivotal role in the success of our initiatives.

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for Test and Evaluation to Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), the Combined Test Force, and Space Systems Command.
  • Formulate the overarching strategy to direct T&E planning for ongoing MITRE projects supporting STARCOM and T&E squadron sponsors.
  • Conduct thorough analyses, develop options, and recommend enterprise requirements and resources necessary for STARCOM's test range and associated infrastructure.
  • Provide systems engineering and technical expertise, along with agile process implementation, to create test concepts, plans, events, and analyses.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements for T&E processes, metrics, or procedures, including Measures of Effectiveness (MOE), Measures of Suitability (MOS), Measures of Resilience (MORs), Measures of Performance (MOP), and Critical Operational Issues (COI).
  • Lead the development of Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) measures and guide the technical formulation of Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP).
  • Participate in the organization and execution of operational test readiness reviews.
  • Identify gaps in testing capabilities and propose enhancements for test infrastructure and new capability development through science and technology investments.
  • Advise on annual funding strategies and capability roadmaps.
  • Leverage MITRE's extensive technical expertise to address testing challenges and enhance test execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering and test & evaluation.
  • Familiarity with the JCIDS process, particularly the DoD test and evaluation protocols.
  • Proven ability to conduct analyses and present findings to senior decision-makers.
  • Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the USSF and space acquisition entities.
  • TS/SCI level security clearance and the capacity to be cleared for Special Access Programs.
  • This position necessitates a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Space Control T&E.
  • Knowledge of test range operations and infrastructure development.
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Certification: Test & Evaluation Level 3.
  • Current involvement in the Space Systems domain.
  • Prior experience in an operational space squadron or space system program office.

Clearance Requirements:

This position requires the candidate to possess a minimum of the following clearance(s): Top Secret/SCI.

This position requires the hired candidate to obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): SAP.

Salary Range:

$138,500 - $173,000 - $207,500 Annual.

Work Location Type:

Hybrid.
