Position Overview

The Center for Cybersecurity and Trusted Foundations (CTF) within the Global Security Initiative is inviting applications for the role of Information Security Analyst as part of our CTF Apprenticeship Program. This position is centered on enhancing and supporting a cybersecurity research portfolio. You will operate under the guidance of experienced faculty members in the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI) at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Your responsibilities will include executing a variety of standard laboratory experimental procedures at a proficient level in computer functionality assurance and verification, necessitating creativity, resourcefulness, and adaptability to the evolving demands of research in this domain.

Employment Details

This is a part-time role (32 hours per week) that is eligible for benefits. The duration of employment is anticipated to be around 6 months.

Work Environment

Work activities will take place in a controlled office environment and computer laboratory, which may involve extended periods of sitting while using computers and other office equipment.

Background Verification

All candidates will undergo pre-employment screening, which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing this background check.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess an Associate's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or have 2 years of experience in information technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Department Overview

The Center for Cybersecurity and Trusted Foundations (CTF) is a multi-disciplinary entity that collaborates with leading faculty, graduate students, and software engineers to conduct impactful research and educational initiatives. Our current research endeavors include malware reverse-engineering, next-generation authentication, identity management, and advanced decompilation, among others.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist in executing skilled procedures, tests, and analyses that require understanding and adaptation to program design and operation.
  • Contribute to data analysis and the preparation of research progress reports, including summarizing test results.
  • Conduct literature and computer searches for research data, including specialized archival research.
  • Modify standard procedures to align with project needs and enhance unsatisfactory tests.
  • Support the design and implementation of functionality assurance techniques and computer data systems.
  • Evaluate the validity of data from experimental procedures and recommend further tests or modifications.
  • Assist in managing databases for studies, including data entry and retrieval for analysis.
  • Help maintain laboratory and experimental equipment, perform troubleshooting, and coordinate maintenance.
  • Contribute to the development of written operating procedures and perform quality control checks.
